Bahwan Healthcare Centre donates glucometers to Oman Diabetes Association

Muscat, Sultanate of Oman - 19 January, 2015.

In continuing with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives through the new year 2015, Bahwan Healthcare Centre, one of the flagship companies of Suhail Bahwan Group Holding (SBGH), donated 600 units of glucometers to Oman Diabetes Association (ODA)

In a simple ceremony held at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center (NDEC), Ms. Amal Suhail Bahwan, Managing Director and Board Member of Suhail Bahwan Group, handed over the glucometers to Sayyida Dr. Noor Al Busaidi, President of Oman Diabetes Association, in the presence of some of the association board members and the Royal Hospital doctors and other dignitaries. ODA will distribute these glucometers to deserving patients.

Ms Amal Bahwan said, "Being in healthcare business we, at Suhail Bahwan Group, strongly believe in CSR that would eventually benefit the patient community at large. Oman Diabetes Association is doing a commendable service in spreading awareness to combat diabetes in Oman and we are happy to be supporting this and other initiatives by ODA." Sayyida Dr. Noor Al Busaidi commented, "Diabetes is a growing concern in Oman and the Middle East and ODA has been very active in educating the society of its serious complications and eradicating diabetes with the support of various corporate houses and organisations. We are thankful to Suhail Bahwan Group for this gesture, which will go a long way in our mission."

Later, Dr. Noor Al Busaidi took Ms Amal Bahwan on a guided tour of the NDEC facilities.

The glucometer is a very beneficial device for diabetics as it allows them to monitor their glucose level regularly without the need to visit doctors and labs. It also helps to detect hypoglycemia.

The small gesture of donating glucometer is one among many CSR activities by SBGH group, others being organizing blood donation camps, celebrating world health day with cancer affected children, donation of toys to kids, conducting health awareness programmes, etc.

ODA has been continuously working on spreading awareness in the local community about diabetes, methods to combat it and finding solutions to minimize its spread and negative impacts on the individual and the society as a whole.
