Founded in 1977, Bahwan Engineering Group (BEG), a member of the Suhail Bahwan Group, is one of Oman's largest engineering construction & trading groups in Oman. For over three decades, BEG has been associated with nation-building projects, not only in Oman but in the UAE too. Its core values have enabled the Group to successfully execute numerous projects to exacting standards.
BEG, today, executes integrated multi-disciplinary construction projects under one umbrella, involving civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, elevators and escalators, diesel power generation. It is also involved in trading in electrical, mechanical, chemical products and facilities management services within Oman and the UAE.
With more than 17,000 employees, including 900 engineers, the group has established itself as the leader in integrated construction projects in sectors such as Oil, Gas and Power, HV Transmission and Distribution, Airports, Hotels, Hospitals and Commercial-Residential Complexes.
Major engineering contracts for integrated projects such as Oman LNG (Train I & II), Qalhat LNG (Train III), Sohar Seawater intake and return system, Sohar Power & Desalination Plant, Barka and Sohar Power Transmission System, Sohar Fertilizer Plant and Marmul Polymer Flooding, amongst others attest to BEG's growing reputation as the country's premier preferred engineering contractor.
The Company has been operating in the UAE since 1995 with the construction of the Greenfield DEWA substations followed by two large power projects, the Al Aweer station and Jebel Ali 'D' station at Jebel Ali. BEC debuted their M&E project execution doing the works at Fujairah power plant and carried on with the M&E works for a large residential complex with seven multi-storey buildings and a hotel on Palm Island on the Dubai coast.
BEC is the first company in its category to achieve ISO 9000 certification for "Project management and construction activity comprising civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works associated with oil, gas, power and industrial projects".
BEC has well documented "HSE Management system" in line with international standards and is certified for OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001.The company has excellent HSE performance track record as one of the safest contractors in Oman.
